An electric space heater is believed to be the source of the fire that claimed the life of a Yancey County resident Friday night, April 19th. Ricky McPeters, age 67, of Yancey County, pled guilty to two counts of felony death by vehicle and possession of methamphetamine this week. He was sentenced to two consecutive prison sentences of six to eight years. The sentence was for a July 6, 2023 wreck on US 221 north of Marion.
