Vesper Masonic Lodge was chartered in Spruce Pine in 1906 by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, and is one of 384 lodges in North Carolina, comprising over 60,000 Freemasons in North Carolina alone. Masons constitute the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world.
