The Springmaid
Splash was on August 26 at Springmaid Mountain. It
consisted of a 10k run and a 5k walk on trails that led the
runners/walkers "over the river and through the woods". This was
the
3rd year of the event. 430 people participated - the oldest was
over
70 and the youngest was 10 years old. The participants came from
Virginia, Minnesota, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and North
Carolina. The net proceeds from the event were donated to Hospice of
Mitchell
County.
Several comments from participants following the event:
"Thank you for the great race! It was a booger, but when you are
done you have something to brag about."
"I ran the Springmaid Splash for the first time yesterday. I love
the "family" atmosphere and how it was organized."
"I do a lot of organized races and this was the best I have
participated in."
