At the Mitchell County Courthouse, 1995, plans were finalized to begin offering GED study opportunities to those who were locally incarcerated. Mitchell High School graduates, Candace Martin and Colby Boston, were awarded Scholarships of $500 each by the Yancey-Mitchell Board of REALTORS. Candace and Colby will continue their education at Mayland Community College. Pictured with the students is Frances Goforth, Scholarship Committee Chairperson. $500 Scholarships were also awarded to two students from Yancey County.

PGCDC kids created a quilt to donate to Sejal Neas who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in May. On the second row from left to right are Katie Tolley, Alicia Hall, Erica Mitchell, Callie Blevins, Libby Bryant, and Dallas Marlowe.
