The Carpentry II class
at Avery County High School, designed and constructed a child's gazebo named
Kennedy's Corner in memory of Kennedy Frye. The gazebo was placed at the
Phillips Gwaltney Child Care Center in Spruce Pine. Pictured seated are AHS

Chad Trivette ran
almost 15 miles from Spruce Pine to Bakersville on his birthday,
Septmember 11th. Chad’s cause was to honor his mother,
Pam who has been diagnosed with cancer and to raise money to be used

Recognizing her service to the community, Billie Ruth Sudduth
received the “Paul Harris Fellow’ award from the Rotary Foundation at her August
23rd reception celebrating her 25th anniversary of weaving

Denise Fogarty made this 4th of July themed outfit for a
contest hosted by a doll club. The outfit won the themed contest
and Denise received a “Xuxa” doll for her prize. The skirt is a
striped part of a flag and the top is the star part. The doll’s
mouth actually moves as she sings the National Anthem, “America” and
“Yankee Doodle!”
