Phillips
Gwaltney Child Development Center celebrated Halloween with a
parade of princesses, football stars, cartoon characters and
more on Mayland Community College’s Main Campus on Monday,
October 31. Pictured returning from the parade from left to
right leading the group are Sada Hall, PGCDC director Liz
Silvers, and Dystani Frisbee.

Randy Hall of Burnsville is the lucky winner of the 50th
Anniversary trip to Gatlinburg, $50 cash and $50 for gas. He

taken this morning...it was maybe a few months back when the
rhododendron were in bloom, when Harold S. Self snapped this picture

Avery County High School Jr. ROTC Golf
Tournament was held on September 17th. There was a great turnout and
$2000 was raised.

Vicky Hoilman got a picture of all
these deer in her backyard. She said the buck on the right stood
watch while the two does on the left were eating acorns.

Now this picture helps to get us in
the Christmas spirit. This was actually taken during the ice
storm of 2003 by Harold S. Self. It was taken at Lake Laurel,
Little Switzerland, N.C., on Emerald Mine Road. Beautiful.

Former Mitchell High School student,
Christopher Horvat is excelling at UNC-Chapel Hill. His parents
said, "We here in Mitchell County are very fortunate to have
dedicated and effective teachers; a group that is second to none
that I know of."
The Horvats second son, Mathew also excelled in Mitchell
County and is now a freshman at Chapel Hill. |
