Billy Flint has earned the rank of
Eagle Scout, the highest level of scouting. Only about 4% of
all Boy Scouts achieve this ranking. This achievement is a
culmination of the fundamental goals of scouting – citizenship,
leadership, community service and outdoor skills. The standards
of this award have been well-maintained over the years.
Billy has been actively involved in
scouting since he was in 1st grade. He earned every
available activity pin as a cub scout as well as other awards.
As a Boy Scout, Billy has earned over 30 merit badges and served
in a number of leadership positions. For his Eagle service
project, Billy constructed a 1/10 mile walking trail behind the
hospital cafeteria to help promote a healthier lifestyle.
Billy’s project was made possible
by the support of the following individuals and businesses: Pete
Jarrett and Daniel Hensley at Mountaineer Landscaping, Great
Meadows, Spruce Pine Mica, Spruce Pine Kiwanis Club, United
Community Bank, Bombardier, Western Sizzlin, Hal Harrison, David
Wylie, Dr. Charley Nash, Howell Sparks Real Estate, Maggiolo,
