Illumbra Art Gallery in downtown
Bakersville, North Carolina will present a new exhibition
“Dancing in the Mountains” featuring Yvonne Hegney. The
exhibition opened August 6 and continues through September
16, 2005.A portion of all proceeds from the show will be donated
to the Mitchell County Historical Society to help with the
beautification of the Historic Courthouse Park. The park is on
the site where the old jailhouse once stood before the tragic
fire that ravaged it and took the lives of 8 young

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Youth of Spruce Pine took a
mission trip on August 6th and 7th to Welch WV. They took clothes,
food and school supplies to those less fortunate in the poverty
stricken coal mining area of WV. While there they attended church
services with some of the locals. The youth group and their teachers
consisted of from left to right, Trish Waldroup, Jeannine Gunter,
Ken Waldroup, Luke Hensley, Ashley Phillips, Tim Wilson, Jessica
Fisher, Shane Gunter, Laura Waldroup, Mallerie Pittman, Tara Gunter,
Ella Stout, Daniel Cassida, Jessica Grindstaff, Brian Fisher, John
Stewart, Faith Biggs, Justin Burke, Andy Burleson, Dustin Staton,
