This butterfly was recently visiting at Sue Biggs' house.

Artists at work in the glass studio at the EnergyXchange at the
Mitchell-Yancey landfill. The nonprofit organization has requested
$50,000 a year from Mitchell, Yancey and Avery counties for
administrative and operational support. The EnergyXChange
captures the escaping landfill gas to heat greenhouses and fuel

Relay for Life held a Cancer Survivor Luncheon Saturday, June 12th
at Spruce Pine United Methodist Church. Eighty cancer survivors,

Rhododendron Queens were crowned at the Rhododendron Festival
Pageant June 19th. Amelia Wilson (left) of Bakersville, was crowned Junior
Queen and Chelsea Wilson, of Bakersville was crowned the 2005 North
