The 5k and 10K Springmaid Splash
adventure was held Saturday August 27th at Springmaid Mountain
near the Blue Ridge Parkway. The course had runners running
through tunnels of Mountain Laurel and rhododendron, through
sand, through rocky sections, up challenging hills and alongside
ponds and a river...and through the river at least twice... thus
the "Splash" in the title. All proceeds benefited Hospice and
Palliative Care Center of Mitchell County. "Murphy in Morning"
was broadcasting live on WTOE during the race.
